About Shelter

shelter

Built in lockdown. Inspired by nostalgia. Made for right now.

The Shelter wasn’t part of the original Cinch plan.

It came about during lockdown — when the world hit pause and we started craving the simplicity of old-school camping. You know the kind: canvas tents, enamel mugs, muddy wellies, the sound of rain on fabric. The good stuff.

We wanted a creative project.

Something hands-on. Something that reminded us of scout camps, family holidays, and childhood adventures — but with a modern twist. So we took a detour from our usual high-performance pop-up tents and created something softer, slower, and a bit more soulful.

That's how the Shelter was born.

It's big, nostalgic, and made for making memories. Perfect for the beach, the back garden, the campsite — or wherever you want to set up a base and just be.

It's not flashy. It's not fiddly.
It's just good design that gets out of the way and lets you enjoy the outdoors.

Kickstarter launch

We launched it on Kickstarter and were blown away — we raised nearly 15,000% of our target, shipping to thousands of customers in over 80 countries. Turns out, a lot of people were feeling the same way we were.

Not just another product

We’ve been making tents since 2009 — and you can check out our full range at cinchpopuptents.com. But the Shelter felt like a one-off. A proper passion project. So we gave it its own site, its own identity, and let it do its thing.
